After her studies at the Academy of Journalism and Information in Tilburg, she started as an intern at De Telegraaf, where she soon got the permanent position of fashion journalist; a position she held for fourteen years. She then moved to De Telegraaf's weekend extra issue as a general reporter and columnist with her weekly column, Fiona's Wereld. After twenty-one years, Hering left De Telegraaf in 2009 to work as "fashion features editor at large" for the fashion magazine Glamour, which means that she is responsible for all fashion stories and interviews at home and abroad. She also wrote a fashion column for two years in the style supplement of Het Parool. Since the beginning of 2012, she has been working as Fashion Features Director of the newly launched Vogue Netherlands. Hering regularly leads panel discussions and gives presentations and lectures around the country. From 2001 to 2017, Hering was a lifestyle expert on the television program RTL Boulevard. In 2005 she presented the Dutch version of Herken de Homo, which was broadcast on RTL 5. Fiona was one of the ten ladies in the first edition of Ranking the Stars. In 2009 Hering was featured as a panel member in Wie is mijn ex? and was a regular face in the Net5 program The table of 5. In 2019 Hering was featured again on television as a lifestyle expert, on 6 Inside. Fiona Hering has a daughter and a son from two relationships. She had her youngest child with her current partner Giel ten Bosch.
