General info : John Lamm (born in 1944 - died October 5, 2020, California, USA (aged 76)) was an automotive writer and photographer. He worked for several major American car magazines but also for magazines such as for Clipper, Pan Am's in-flight magazine or Italian Autoin Vogue. After attending a road race at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, he decided to become an automotive journalist and began his career with Motor Trend magazine in Los Angeles. In 1975, he moved to Road & Track, where he became editor-at-large. Lamm has won the International Motor Press Association's Ken Purdy Award and the Motor Press Guild's Dean Batchelor Award for his writing and has also been honored for his photography. John wrote clearly and simply about what he saw and experienced, as though he were standing alongside you, explaining patiently (and never pedantically) exactly what was going on. Year after year, the Monterey weekend was John's favorite assignment. John was a decorated Vietnam veteran. At 76 years old, he passed away in California due to complications from lymphoma. He was survived by his wife Scheri.
