General info : Gérald Gassiot-Talabot (born November 13, 1929 in Algiers, Algeria - died June 13, 2002 in Paris, France (aged 72)) was an art publisher and critic who invented the concept of " narrative figuration ". Gérald Gassiot-Talabot was the head of the Blue Guides and the director of Éditions du Chêne within the Hachette Livre group. He also launched the Guide du Routard collection at this publisher. Gérald Gassiot-Talabot was also an influential art critic. Co-founder of the art magazine Opus international, then critic in the magazine Verso, he had the idea of ??bringing together, under the generic expression of "narrative figuration", the work of young artists from the 1960s - 1980s . Gérald Gassiot-Talabot has written about many other artists of other trends (such as geometric abstraction represented by Antoine de Margerie or Simona Ertan) and published numerous books. He was deputy delegate for visual arts and inspector general of artistic creation at the Ministry of Culture in the early 1980s.
