General info : Jérôme Ducrot (born on June 10, 1935 in Oran, Algeria - died on January 26, 2021 in Denmark (aged 85)) was a French fashion director and photographer. He has been active in New York where he has worked in his studio located on the 23rd East Side in Manhattan since the late 1950s . He is a friend of André Kertész and his family. Jérôme Ducrot collaborated with the American magazine Vogue from 1967 to 1972 and established his name in fashion photography, photographing personalities such as Salvador Dalí, Yvette Horner, the sculptor Marino di Teana, or Ali MacGrav for Chanel in 1966 and whose advertising had a decisive role in the actress's career. In 1965, he hired Richard Kalvar as his assistant, whom he would mentor, and whom he would train in the basics of photography, and who would stay in his studio. He encouraged him to persevere in this profession by giving him a camera while he left for an initiatory trip to Europe and Morocco. He also employed his childhood friend Guy de Cointet as a graphic designer from 1956 in an advertising agency. Back in France, Jérôme Ducrot became closer to “unimportant people". Jérôme Ducrot created numerous covers for Zoom, the image magazine in the 70s.
