General info : Néogravure was the business name of La Néogravure SA, a French printing company, founded in 1973 after the merger of Imprimerie E. Desfossés-Néogravure SA with Imprimerie Crété SA located in Corbeil-Essonnes. In the 1970s and 80s, Néogravure was a multi-purpose printing company, utilizing both gravure and offset printing processes. A commercial printer, it did not print daily newspapers, and despite a dedicated security printing division, it primarily produced periodicals. Notable publications included Elle, Marie-Claire, Paris-Match, Lui, Playboy, Le Chasseur Français, and the La Redoute catalog. At the time, it was the leading French printing company, the third largest in Europe, and possessed the most modern gravure printing equipment in Europe. Its facilities were numerous: Parisian plants in Corbeil (formerly Crété), Issy (later Blomet), and near the Opéra, in Saint-Ouen (Imprimerie Chaix); and provincial subsidiaries such as Néa in Lille, Braun in Mulhouse, and Oberthur in Rennes, the "Renault of Printing," as it was nicknamed. In 1929 a business named Desfossé merged with Néogravure becoming E. Desfossés-Néogravure SA. In 1965 a new merger with Imprimerie Chaix SA lead to the founding of Imprimerie Chaix-Desfossé-Néogravure SA (ICDN SA). In 1973 it was renamed to La Néogravure SA. In 1980 Crété-Néogravure sold its bookbinding facilities to Nouvelles Messageries des Presses Parisiennes (NMPP).
