| General info : | | Wim Schamp (born ca. 1954 - died November 2nd 2014 (aged 60) was a publisher and advertising executive.
Wim Schamp held degrees in law and communication sciences. Shortly after his studies, he worked for the Boerenbond. In 1985, he founded his own communication agency, WIM (Welcome In Massmedia). He handled campaigns for politicians like Jean-Luc Dehaene, Guy Verhofstadt, Yves Leterme, Louis Tobback, Johan Vande Lanotte, and Jean-Marie Dedecker. Schamp was also active on various other fronts. For instance, in 1995, he founded the non-profit organization The Smoking, which advocates for mutual tolerance between smokers and non-smokers.
He was also involved in the launch of P-Magazine in 1997.
Another notable project was an anti-racism campaign based on a re-recording of the song "Cous-Cous Kreten" by De Kreuners, sung by politicians of various stripes and others.
He passed away at the age of 60. Schamp had been battling aggressive pancreatic cancer for months. He was survived by his two siblings Gian en Tonya and his wife Gina De Groote. | |
