Stephan Szantai (born in France) is an automotive journalist residing in California, USA.

His work (photography & stories) has been published in over 80 magazines based in 15+ countries, like Dune Buggies And Hot VWs, Super VW Magazine, Ultra VW, Hot Rod, a.o.

Born and raised in France, Stephan Szantai first started photographing cars at a show at the historic racetrack of Montlhéry with a Kodak Instamatic when he was 13 years old. Later, eighth–mile drag racing at Le Mans cemented his love for motorsports, leading to freelance writing and photography for two French titles, VW and Nitro, starting when he was 20.
After a short stint as Associate Editor at French Super VW Magazine in 1991 he moved to Southern California in 1992 and he currently lives near the Hot Rod offices in Redondo Beach.

He is also the author of the books Demon Bugs (2007) and The California Look Compete Bible.

Stephan resides in Redondo Beach, California, United States.
