Preetma started her career as a corporate lawyer, first as a Summer Clerk at the U.S. District Court, District of Middle Tennessee in 2006 and from 2007 to 2010 as Associate at King & Spalding LLP, a law firm in Atlanta.
After two years years as a corporate lawyer, Preetma Singh — who had long balanced dueling passions for clothes and policy — decided to give the fashion industry a try. She started the Working Girl, Esq. in 2010, a personal style blog that documented what it was like wearing Balenciaga to a buttoned-up office.

Off the clock, she plays the drums in a band called Vomitface. Along the way, she has become a bit of a street-style star as well, known most for her creative sense of style and signature green hair.

She studied Law at the Vanderbilt University Law School where she graduated in 2008 and Politics at Princeton University where she graduated in 2005.

She resides in Seattle, Washington.
