René Eugène Paul Ferret, known as René Préjelan (born October 12, 1877 in Perpignan, France - March 24, 1968 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France (aged 90)) was a French painter, draftsman and illustrator.

René Préjelan was the son of Antoine Auguste Eugène Ferret and Lucie Hélène Stéphanie Sebroë. He married on February 25, 1903 in the 17th arrondissement of Paris with Anna Martinet.

René Préjelan was tall, especially for his time, standing at 1.88 meters. This is evident in the photograph where he is being awarded the Legion of Honour for military service by an officer considerably shorter than himself. He continued his studies at a lycée in Dijon but then abandoned them to follow a young ballerina to Paris. Thanks to Joseph-Arthème Fayard, who had just taken over the editorship of the satirical weekly La Caricature, he became an illustrator for numerous periodicals.

He is also an excellent fencer because, as a member of the Cercle Hoche, he wins theMay 25, 1913the annual épée championship during the Great Fencing Week organized in the Tuileries Garden by the Parisian Fencing Federation.

From 1897 onwards, he produced numerous drawings for several illustrated newspapers, including: Le Journal Amusant, Le Rire, La Vie Parisienne, La Caricature, etc. He also produced several advertising posters or catalogues for commercial firms or department stores: À la Belle Jardinière, Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, Grands Magasins du Louvre, etc.

February 22, 1943, he remarried Andrée Irène Colette Durbec in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
