L. Plassard is the eponymous fragrance and soap brand name used by Louis Plassard, a French business man from Paris who purchased the Demarson et Cie factory in 1891.

Demarson et Cie began in 1815 under the name Demarson, then Demarson & Cie., Demarson-Chételat, and Chételat & Cie. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Demarson company had helped to break England's monopoly on toilet soaps.

Louis Plassard was Parisian, 29 years old at the time of the takeover, and the son of a manager of the Bon Marché department store. He initially shared the management of the company and then became the sole director in 1894. He renamed the company after himself. The brand was renamed to L. Plassard and later to just Plassard.
He built the Billancourt factory in 1897 at 92 rue du Vieux Pont de Sèvres in Boulogne-Billancourt, France.

Plassard perfumes have won numerous awards in competitions and Louis was made a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1911.

Louis Plassard's main creations were named: "Matsi", "Bouquet de Paris", "Meilleurs vœux", or the colognes "Avrillée" or "A travers Bois".
