Mitch O'Connell (born 26 March 1961, USA) is an American illustrator. He is a beloved hanger-on of the "Lowbrow" art movement. O'Connell’s works have been featured in magazines ranging from Newsweek, Rolling Stone, GQ, The New York Times, Time, Playboy, Entertainment Weekly, The New Yorker to Juggs. He began his career in the early 1980s with contributions to Charlton Comics' horror titles. He then did covers for First Publishing and Marvel, before drawing the graphic novel 'World of Ginger Fox' for Comico (script by Mike Baron, 1987) and First Publishing's 'Munden's Bar' and 'The Badger'. In the 1990s O'Connell worked for DC's 'Big Book' series and Topps Comics' 'Return to Jurassic Park'. His work has been collected in books like "Mitch O'Connell the World's Best Artist by Mitch O'Connell" (Ed. Last Gasp, 2013), "Good Taste Gone Bad" and "Pwease Wuv Me". O'Connell's fine art has been exhibited on several occasions and he is also a tattoo designer. His tattoo designs are also a fixture on the walls of tattoo shops around the word. His distinctive style fuses cartoony and iconic imagery plus an innate sense of humor to create pop-kitsch pieces. His favorite designs were collected in the book "Mitch O'Connell Tattoos". He’s been featured in the world of rock ’n’ roll on album covers and posters for groups from The Ramones to Weezer to No Doubt to Moby! Mitch’s doodles are utilized in advertising campaigns for major companies from McDonalds to KFC, 7-11 to Coca-Cola. He resides in Chicago, USA.
