Marc Cain is the brand name of Marc Cain GmbH, a German fashion company based in Bodelshausen.
The company was founded in 1973 by Helmut Schlotterer in Carpi, Italy.

The name can be traced back to a Canadian friend named Marc Cain, whom the founder and owner Helmut Schlotterer met there in the early 1970s.
The headquarters later moved to Bodelshausen in Baden-Württemberg where the company is based to this day.
At first Marc Cain only produced knitwear, later a full range was built up.
A new logistics center has been in operation since spring 2015.
Marc Cain has its origins in knitting. This is still one of the core competencies today. Animal photographs, which can be found in every Marc Cain collection and are repeatedly reinterpreted in the designs, are also typical of Marc Cain.
