Gerbe was the brand name of Manufacture Gerbe SASU, a French marketer and manufacturer of hosiery and lingerie.
The Gerbe brand was founded in the year of 1904 by Stéphane Gerbe. The factory for the company is located in Saint-Vallier in the south of Burgundy, France. The factory has been labelled as "Entreprise du Patrimoine français" that translates in English to "company of French heritage". The company began its business by selling primarily tights and stockings. Over the years the business has expanded to selling various types of hosiery. The company has continued to flourish as a family-owned business through the complications and setbacks of financial institutions and changing leaderships until it had to fold in 2020.
Alain Regad, who was the owner of Rhovyl, has also become the owner of Gerbe. The yarn that was used for the hosiery is made from within the Rhovyl line. Their products were all made in France. There were more than 100 employees that work on location.
Its last shareholder, the Chinese hotel group Chongqing Tianci Hot Spring, did not hand over the money it needed to continue its activity in the summer of 2020.
In November 2020 the commercial court of Chalon-sur-Saône did not accept a global offer to take over the assets of this renowned high-end manufacture, whose employees were made redundant.
Its president, Changlin Yang, explains that they finally threw in the towel because a planned partnership with a beauty pageant organizer in China fell through.
Two months after the company went into liquidation, followed by the dismissal of the last 33 employees, the judge-commissioner in charge of the case attributed in mid-November, the large stock of finished products of Gerbe (around 300,000 pairs of stockings and tights) to the online sales site Showroomprive.com, for 355,000 euros.
