Founded in 1989, metal band Sentenced was a pioneer of Finnish heavy music. The story of these Northern Ostrobothnian (anti)heroes takes them on a wild ride through early teenage bravado to ludicrously absurd and profoundly tragic twists of fate. Along the way you’ll learn their songwriting secrets, experience unforgettable shows and explore the deepest troughs of despair that is life on tour. Deathly disaster and Northern gallows humour; triumphs and squandered opportunities. These heavy-drinking, famously taciturn men in black tell the tale of what it was like to play in the band called Sentenced.

Täältä Pohjoiseen - Sentencedin Tarina is a book about the band Sentenced from Muhos, Finland, which was active from 1989 to 2005. The book covers the history of the band from the early days of its musicians' careers to the band's dissolution in 2005 and the death of lead guitarist Miika Tenkula in 2009. Riekki interviewed surviving members Lari Kylmänen, Sami Lopakka, Vesa Ranta, Taneli Jarva, Ville Laihiala and Sami Kukkohovi for the book, as well as tour manager Jens "Bobo" Bornhöft and producers Waldemar Sorychta and Hiili Hiilesmaa, among others.
