Popin kuninkaaksi nimetty Michael Jackson on ollut yksi viihdemaailman kiinnostavampia hahmoja. Hän aloitti esiintymisen jo viisivuotiaana ja kiersi pian veljiensä kanssa yhtyeissä The Jackson Five ja The Jacksons. 1980-luvun huikean menestyksen myötä media seurasi herkeämättä Michael Jacksonin henkilökohtaista elämää; muutoksia ulkonäössä, terveyttä, ihmissuhteita ja mm. 2000-luvun pedofiliasyytöksiä, joihin hänet kuitenkin todettiin syyttömäksi.

Michael Jacksonin menestynein levy, Thriller-albumi, julkaistiin vuonna 1982. Merkittävä osa Jacksonin suurista hiteistä on hänen itsensä säveltämiä ja sanoittamia mm. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Billie Jean, Beat It, Bad, Black or White ja Earth Song. Uransa aikana hän voitti huikeat 13 Grammy-palkintoa.

Michael Jacksonin oli tarkoitus tehdä paluu konserttilavoille heinäkuussa 2009 This Is It -konserttisarjalla Lontoon O2-areenalla. Hänen uusi tulemisensa ei kuitenkaan ehtinyt koskaan toteutua.
