Notes :
Château Bonalgue is a vineyard of 6.5 hectares, located in the western end of the appellation Pomerol , just outside of Libourne , in Gironde. In 1798, Antoine Rabion, retired captain of the Napoleonic armies was knighted of the royal order of the legion of honor and moved to Bonalgue and had the current house built. In 1926, Château Bonalgue was taken over by Achille Bourotte, who had come down from his native Corrèze, to embark on the wine trade on the right bank of Bordeaux. Since 1961, Pierre Bourotte, his grandson, has been responsible for the property. He also takes care of the Clos du Clocher ( Pomerol ) - Château Monregard la Croix (Pomerol) - Château Les Hauts-Conseillants (Lalande de Pomerol) - Château du Courlat (Lussac-Saint-Emilion). The vineyard consists of 9.41 hectares of sandy clay soil on subsoils composed of gravel and iron grime (typical of Pomerol). The grape varieties are composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc . Annual production is around 30,000 bottles.
