General info : Theun de Winter (born 15 January 1944 in Badhoevedorp, Netherlands) is a Dutch journalist, poet and lyricist. De Winter arrived on Texel in 1944 in a carrycot, where he grew up. After high school in Den Helder, he twice began unfinished studies in Amsterdam. In the mid-1960s, he became editor of the Amsterdam student weekly Propria Cures, for which he also drew cartoons. At the end of 1967, he began writing articles for the weekly Haagse Post, commissioned by Armando. He made his debut as a poet in 1972 with the collection De Gedichten (The Poems), published by Erven Thomas Rap, Amsterdam. Commissioned by the same publisher, he compiled the booklet "Elf gedichten voor Piet Keizer" (Eleven Poems for Piet Keizer) as a New Year's gift in 1973, a poetic tribute to the legendary Ajax left winger, with contributions from Remco Campert, Jan Wolkers, Marga Minco, Adriaan Morriën, Mensje van Keulen, Bert Schierbeek (and himself). Given the limited edition of 500 numbered copies, it quickly became a coveted collector's item. In 1975, Angèle Manteau published his book "Human Interest" in Elsevier's Literary Series , a collection of the eponymous interview series he wrote for the Haagse Post, in which he questioned well-known compatriots in depth about a single, everyday topic. Under the new title "Terloopse Obsessies" the book was reprinted in 1980 by Loeb Publishers in Amsterdam. A collection of his columns for Playboy magazine was published as "Vreemdgaan is zo vreemd nog niet" (Cheating Isn't So Strange After All) by Gerard Timmer Productions (Amsterdam, 1989). A year later, also by GTP, he published his own collection of football poetry, "The Netherlands-Germany". The same sport is the theme of his poems for Hard Gras, a "football magazine for readers," founded in 1994 by Henk Spaan and Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. His collection "Het gras voor mijn voeten" (The Grass Before My Feet), published by L.J. Veen in the spring of 2000, contains a large number of the Hard Gras poems, as well as "Herschapen Eiland" (Herschapen Island ), a long poem written at the invitation of the Cultural Council of North Holland and published in December 1992 as volume 58 of the bibliophile series " Noord-Holland in Prose, Poetry and Prints ." The poem was reprinted, also in 1992, at the request of Gerard Timmer Prods. and appeared there in an edition of five hundred copies, one hundred of which were numbered and signed. A selection of his poems was published in 2011 by Uitgeverij Holland in Haarlem under the title Tijdwinnen (Winning Time). To mark the 70th birthday of former top footballer Johnny Rep, the booklet Johnny Rep on the way to Valencia was published in 2021 by MMPublications, a reprint of the travelogue De Winter wrote for the Haagse Post in 1975. In addition to poetry and interviews, De Winter has written lyrics for Maggie MacNeal (Terug naar de kust (Back to the Coast)), Rob de Nijs (Ik laat je vrij) (I Set You Free)), VOF De Kunst, Rocco Granata, Liesbeth List, Clouseau and Wolter Kroes (Laat me los) (Let Me Go)). His Top Ten hit "Terug naar de kust" (Back to the Coast (1976)) is considered one of the evergreens of Dutch-language pop music. In 1977 he made a satirical adaptation of the Christmas song Hoe leit dit kindeken… for the feature film Het debuut, directed by Nouchka van Brakel, and in 1978 he wrote the title song lyrics for the film Het verloren paradijs (Le paradis perdu) by the Belgian director Harry Kümel. From 1983 to 1992, he edited Jan Lenferink 's famous television talk show RUR , and also wrote the rhymes used to introduce the three guests. He subsequently worked on Lenferink's TéVé Puré, and in 2002/'04, he worked on RUR for two seasons. Since the 1990s, he has spent much of his free time with his donkeys on the island of Texel, where he has settled again since the turn of the century. He is chairman of the Multifunctional Donkey Association Texel ia (in amore). The club song " Peace en Vree" (Peace and Peace) was released in early 1999 on the Dutch-Belgian HPK label. He wrote the lyrics and Willem Terhorst, bassist for the band Normaal, composed the music. Terhorst also sang the anthem, accompanied by staff notes by Lulu Kramer. His first collection of poetry, De Gedichten (1972), was introduced by the writer/poet K. Schippers.
