General info : Lin Van Hek (born 1944 in Melbourne, Australia) (aka Lin Van Hecke) is an Australian writer, musician, member of the Society of Women Writers and is the co-founder of a literary-music group called Difficult Women. In 1982 she released a single named "Intimacy" on White Label Records. Van Hek was born in Melbourne, residing in Europe and India for some years. Van Hek is a singer, songwriter, novelist, poet and a painter. She co-wrote and sang the song "Intimacy" that was used in the film, The Terminator. She recorded a solo CD River of Life featuring songs of New Zealand writer, Kath Tait. Lin Van Hek has worked for over two decades with a group of women in North Vietnam designing, manufacturing and trading in ethical, non-exploitative hand-embroidered silk garments and textiles. She is an advocate of handmade houses and also lives half the year in a stone house on the Brass Knocker Creek near the Wadbilliga River and state forest in the southeastern corner of New South Wales. She is the 1988 winner of the Melbourne The Age Short Story Award.
