General info : Hans Jörgen Gedda (born July 8, 1942 in Flen, Sweden) is a Swedish photographer. Since the late 1960s, Hans Gedda has been one of Swedens leading portrait photographers. In the 1980s he has worked for magazines such as Vogue Paris. Hans Gedda was an assistant to Rolf Winquist, whose studio he ran for two years after his death. He has attracted attention for his unconventional portraits of public and significant figures in cultural and social life. He has photographed Nelson Mandela, Olof Palme, Andy Warhol, Jimi Hendrix, Monica Zetterlund, Margaretha Krook and Carl XVI Gustaf, among others. Hans Gedda also works with documentary projects as well as advertising photography and his own still lifes and has had several exhibitions both in Sweden and abroad. He is represented at the Moderna museet and the Nationalmuseum. He has published the books Nuets ikoner, Cirkus and And God created man and has been awarded World Press Photo and Picture of the Year, among others.
