General info : Bruce Cochran (born October 9, 1935 in Dallas, Texas - died August 22, 2022 (aged 86) was an independent professional cartoonist, illustrator, humorist and writer based in Kansas City, USA. He spent his formative years in Oklahoma City. His mother and older sister were artists. His mother primarily painted landscapes and was skilled with both oil and watercolors. His sister, Adrienne, worked as an illustrator for the Daily Oklahoman in Oklahoma City. After serving in the US Army, he earned a bachelor's degree in design from the University of Oklahoma. A fraternity brother introduced him to Carol Duer, whom he married in 1958. Cochran eventually secured a job with Hallmark in Kansas City in 1960 as a writer and illustrator. While moonlighting as a freelance artist, he sold cartoons to Playboy, Saturday Evening Post, Look, Good Housekeeping, and Atlantic Monthly. Bruce was introduced to duck hunting by his friend Ned Spence, and he remained an avid waterfowler for the rest of his life. Bruce was a regular contributor to many popular outdoor magazines, including Field & Stream and Ducks Unlimited. He went on to publish several outdoor-themed books, such as Trout Fever, Duck Fever, and Lab Fever, which remain in print. Cochran’s work has appeared in Ducks Unlimited, Field & Stream, North American Hunter, Petersen’s Bowhunting, Pheasants Forever Journal and many, many more. Among those many more are National Lampoon, The Realist, Playboy (and Fling and Gallery, etc), Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and just about every fishing and hunting magazine you can think of. He was also an award-winning lifetime member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America. In 2017 he earned the OWAA’s most prestigious honor of Excellence in Craft. He also authored 15 books.
