| General info : | | FAX +49-69/450464 (also known as simply FAX or FAX Label) was a German record label founded in Frankfurt in 1992 by ambient musician Peter Kuhlmann (who recorded as Pete Namlook, a phonetic inversion of his surname).
It was originally devoted to Namlook's collaborations with other German electronic artists, primarily in hard trance, but always had ambient recordings on the B-sides.
Soon the ambient genre became the predominant genre for the releases to come.
The label had 4 types of catalog numbers:
PK : for Namlook's solo releases ('Peter Kuhlmann')
PW : for collaborations ('Peter's World')
PS : for releases by other artists ("Peter's Sublabel")
PKPWPS : for compilations
Apart from the FAX label Pete Namlook also handled the labels :
AW : for re-releases of FAX albums ("Ambient World")
YT : for ambient releases using no electronics and only classical instruments ("Yesterday Tomorrow")
RI : for releases from his friend Uwe Schmidt and all his multiple recording names ("Rather Intresting")
Label founder Pete Namlook died of a heart attack on 8 November 2012, and since then no official statement regarding the label's future was made. | |
