General info : Margareta Lagerqvist (born in 1972 in Ångermanland, Sweden) is a film editor. With a strong interest in image and storytelling, she started immediately after high school at Biskops-Arnös' 2-year media line (1992-1994). After that, she worked as a cinema operator and then cinema manager at Folkets Bio, Zita (1996-1998). It was actually only when she worked as a news editor at Aktuellt, Rapport and Abc (1999-2001) that the dream of becoming a film editor was awakened. After completing her studies at the Dramatiska Institutet's editing line (2001-2004), she has now, over 20 years later, edited many films, documentaries and TV series. Among her films are several strong portraits of women that take place around the world. For example, the Emmy-nominated feature-length documentary The Art of Flying to Kabul (2006), The Stars Are Shining on the Roof (2009), Room 213 (2017), Ouaga Girls (2017), Storm (2022) and Så länge hjärtat slår (As Long as the Heart Beats) (2024). She also edited the series Thunder in my heart S2 by Amy Deasismont, which won the Kristallen for best young drama in 2023 and Quicksand (2019). Over the years, she has periodically returned to Stockholm University of the Arts as a guest lecturer and more recently she has also been active as an advisor, for example on The Wife (2017), Forever (2023) and Kevlarssjäl (2025).
