General info : | | PAL, (Phase Alternating Line), is a colour encoding system for analogue television used in broadcast television systems in most countries broadcasting at 625-line / 50 field (25 frame) per second (576i). (Coluored in blue on the picture, including Europe, Australia, South Africa, a.o.)
Other common colour encoding systems are NTSC (USA) and SECAM (France + Russia).
Since a NTSC VHS movie will be recorded at 525 line - 60 field (30 frame) per second, such movie will only play on a VCR recorder able to play NTSC format.
Fortunately a lot of VCR Region Code Free players exist that can display PAL and NTSC. | |
