General info : Mark Rappolt was named Editor in Chief at ArtMagazine in 2006. Mark studied art history (specialising in eighteenth-century public sculpture in France) and at the same time worked with a number of contemporary artists (Sophie Calle, Louise Bourgeois, Gilbert & George amongst others) on books of their writings. The eighteenth-century material led to an interest in town-planning which led him to the Architectural Association, where he edited its journal AA Files and programmed some of the artist projects, before ending up teaching in the Graduate theory programme and returning to artwriting, thanks to a friendship with one of the Situationists, the Dutch artist Constant. For a while he operated as both an art and an architecture critic, before, over the past few years, focusing almost exclusively on art. Publications include monographs on the architects Frank Gehry and Greg Lynn, and, more recently, catalogues for artists Michael Gumhold, Slater Bradley and Alex Katz. He resided in Vienna.
