Zadig & Voltaire is a French ready-to-wear brand, created in 1997 by Thierry Gillier, great-grand-nephew of André Gillier, the co-founder of the company Lacoste 2, operated by the company ZV France SAS.

The name of the brand is taken from the novel of Voltaire, Zadig ou la Destinée (1747): the main character, Zadig, marked the spirit of the creator, by his charisma, his modernity and his courage.

The choice of cashmere coupled with an identifiable casual rock stylistic signature was very early on in the brand's identity.
