Paraboot is a brand name owned by the French company Établissements Richard Pontvert Et Compagnie SA, which manufactures and markets sewn shoes.

In 1908, Rémy-Alexis Richard, son of a peasant, left the shoe factory in which he worked, in Isère, to try his luck as a retailer in Paris. After selling under the name Chaussures Extras, he registered the name Paraboot in 1927.

The company grew rapidly: Julien, the son of the founder who took over, diversified production with several ranges of shoes, but also ice skates.
The company began to encounter financial difficulties in the early 1970s. Michel, grandson of Rémy-Alexis Richard, tried to straighten out the company's accounts, without success: after filing for bankruptcy in 1983, the company comes close to bankruptcy, then manages to relaunch. The opening of Paraboot stores began in 1988 and continued rapidly. The first store abroad opened in Belgium in 1994.

In 2017 a new factory is built. Business is also on the rise. The company, which communicates on Instagram, wants in particular to attract young people who only wore sneakers and who have started to convert to leather shoes via, for example, Dr. Martens.

Historically, Paraboot had two factories in the Isère valley, in Izeaux and Fures. Manufacturing was brought together in January 2017 on a new site of more than 11,000 m2, located in Saint-Jean-de-Moirans, allowing the company to modernize its production tools. Thus, nearly 100 employees manufacture 200,000 pairs of shoes per year.
