General info :
Mercier Frères was the business name of a former decoration, upholstery and furniture manufacturer, located at 100, Faubourg Saint-Antoine in Paris.
Founded in 1828 by Claude Mercier, it closed in 1985.

Specializing in period furniture, it supplied many European and Oriental courts, particularly the Imperial Family of Iran.

It participated in the Universal Exposition of 1867, and then, with a small pavilion, in that of 1900. It then published a map of the exhibition's attractions. In 1914, it opened a branch in Buenos Aires , Argentina, and in 1920 a store, the Marble Palace, at 77 Avenue des Champs-Élysées
In 1927, it opened a branch in New York , at 232-236 E. 59th Street.
At the 1937 Universal Exhibition in Paris, Mercier Frères offered a "Parachute" attraction in the aeronautics pavilion.

1920: Opening of the "Le Palais de Marbre" store at 77 Avenue des Champs-Élysées
1927: Opening of a branch in New York City at 59th Street
1985: Closure of the company
