Éditions Gallimard SA is a French publishing group. The publishing house was founded by Gaston Gallimard in 1911. Until 1919 it was known as Éditions De La Nouvelle Revue Française SA and until 1961 as Librairie Gallimard SA. The Gallimard group is headed by Antoine Gallimard. Considered one of the most important and influential publishing houses in France, particularly for 20th century and contemporary literature, Gallimard was the distributor, in 2011, of a catalogue including 38 Goncourt prize winners, 38 writers who had received the Nobel Prize in Literature, and 10 writers awarded the Pulitzer Prize. Éditions Gallimard SA is part of the holding company, Groupe Madrigall SA, the third largest publishing group in France founded in 1992.
