General info :
Dave Jordan is a music supervisor.
In his capacity as the official music supervisor for Marvel’s superhero films, Jordan has worked to find popular songs, from contemporary hits to rock classics, that complement the personalities of the studio’s beloved characters including Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, the Mighty Thor, Ghost Rider, The Punisher and Daredevil.
He’s also helped to develop new song material that helps to tie together Marvel’s complicated mythology, hiring famed Disney songwriter Richard M. Sherman to write “Make Way For Tomorrow Today,” an anthem for the Stark Expo in Iron Man 2 that’s a nod to Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, and having Alan Menken (who initiated the new wave of Disney song hits with The Little Mermaid) contribute the patriotic pastiche “Star Spangled Man” to Captain America.
Prior to this function Dave worked in the record business at Universal and Atlantic Records.
In the 90’s every movie had a soundtrack record regardless of whether any of the music was actually in the movie. When he worked for a record label in the 90s one of his jobs was helping to put those “inspired-by” records together, which meant cobbling together outtakes and remixes and B-sides of whatever the hot band was at the time.
While doing that he discoverd this job called music supervisor where you actually work for the filmmakers, and he found that much more appealing and eventually left the record business for that.
In the early 00s he founded a music supervision company, named Format Entertainment, Inc., basically a large collection of theatrical music supervisors.
