Senta Simond (born in Geneva, Switzerland) is a photographer.
She lives and works in London, UK.

The Geneva-born artist is principally concerned with human connection, identifying its nuances in the expression on a face or the gesture of the body, and placing it front and centre in her powerfully intimate compositions.

Her debut artist book, entitled Rayon Vert was published by Kominek in 2018. The title refers to Eric Rohmer’s 1986 film Le Rayon Vert (or ‘The Green Flash’), and references the rare meteorological phenomenon in which the appearance of the sun, as it rises or falls beyond the horizon, creates a brief flash of green, and with it a supposed moment of mental clarity for all those who see it – a profound metaphor for Simond’s own practice.

She has previously exhibited in solo shows at Foam Museum and Webber Gallery, and as part of group exhibitions in Tokyo, London, Bienne and Basel, among others.

In 2018 Simond was selected for the Foam Talent awards and won the Swiss Federal Design Award. She has previously been nominated for prizes including the British Journal of Photography Ones to Watch (2018), Paris Photo-Aperture First Book Award (2017), the Unseen Dummy Award (2016 and 2017), and the Prix Photoforum Pasquart (2017).
