General info :
Andy Keir is an editor of film, commercials and music videos.

Andy Keir studied Communications at Cornell, and Film at The New School. In the mid-1980's he got his first film job at RebelEdit, a small commercial editing firm in New York, owned by Reb Kessler. There he learned the ins and outs of cutting spots from Kessler and another brilliant editor, Mary Manhardt.
Over the years he worked on campaigns for clients like Publix Supermarkets, Outback Steakhouse, Lincoln Mercury, Herbal Essences and more. He edited music videos for numerous artists including Neil Young, David Byrne, En Vogue, P.M. Dawn, Faith No More, Martha Wash, Tevin Campbell, Helmet, Steve Earle and many others. During this period he collaborated with an amazing collection of notable directors including Marcus Nispel, Alex Winter, David LaChapelle, Ken Nahoum, Tim Ives, Abel Ferrara and Jonathan Demme. His work with Demme, on Neil Young's THE COMPLEX SESSIONS in 1994, led to a decade-long collaboration on documentaries (MANDELA: SON OF AFRICA, FATHER OF A NATION, which was nominated for an Academy Award in 1997), concert films (STOREFRONT HITCHCOCK and the critically-acclaimed NEIL YOUNG, HEART OF GOLD), and Keir's first studio feature, 1998's BELOVED, co-edited by the legendary Carol Littleton (E.T., Body Heat).

Keir's career as a feature film and television editor spans more than two decades. It includes studio films like BELOVED (Disney/Touchstone) and the 3-D animated feature EPIC (Twentieth Century Fox); medium budget indies like THE NIGHT LISTENER (Miramax), YOUTH IN REVOLT (Dimension), and THE SECRET LIVES OF DENTISTS, OFF THE MAP, and THE DYING GAUL (all for Holegigger Films); as well as micro-budget films like ROGER DODGER, which won Best Narrative Feature at the first Tribeca Film Festival in 2002. In 2009, Keir received two A.C.E. Eddie Award nominations for his first two television projects, HBO's original film BERNARD AND DORIS (directed by Bob Balaban), and the pilot for HBO's TRUE BLOOD (written and directed by Alan Ball). TRUE BLOOD went on to win for Best Edited One-Hour Drama. Since then, Keir has worked extensively in television, editing several episodes of TRUE BLOOD, NBC's CROSSBONES, FLESH AND BONE for Starz, and MARCO POLO for Netflix. Recently, he edited the film ANYTHING starring Matt Bomer and John Carroll Lynch, as well as the upcoming action series WARRIOR (based on the writings of Bruce Lee) for HBO/Cinemax, and the comedy/drama series TALES OF THE CITY (based on the beloved series of novels by Armistead Maupin) for Netflix.

Over the years, Keir has directed a number of short films and other small projects, but lately things have been heating up. He recently directed and edited an in-house promotional film for the fitness brand, Row House, as well as a music video for the LA-based band, Cranky George.

He has written two television pilots, both of which made the short list for the Sundance Episodic Story Lab (in 2015 and 2016).
