Marcio Scavone (born December 8, 1952 in São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian photographer.

He began photographing as a child with his father's Rolleiflex, Rubens Teixeira Scavone, a modernist lawyer, writer and photographer.
At the age of 16 he was assistant to the Catalan modernist photographer Marcel Giró, in his advertising photography studio in São Paulo.
He lived in London between 1972 and 1976 (with a return trip to Brazil in 1974) where he attended the Faculty of Photography at Ealing Art College (University of West London), an experience that left deep cultural and aesthetic marks on his training.

Back in Brazil in 1977, he opens his advertising photography studio in São Paulo, where he reveals himself as one of the greatest exponents of the Brazilian advertising photography scene.
His first individual exhibition took place in 1982 at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo , MASP. He returned to live and photograph professionally in Europe in the 1990s – London and Lisbon – and this is also where his personal work flourished.
He then publishes his first book E Entre a Sombra e a Luz , a journey around the world, the intimate and the geographical, a meeting of text and image with the Italian novelist Antonio Tabucchi .
His second book, Luz Invisível , with text by the writer Luiz Fernando Verissimo enshrines his portraits of celebrities, his brand recognized in Brazilian editorial photography.
Oscar Niemeyer, Pelé, Fernanda Montenegro, Burle Marx, Jô Soares, Caetano Veloso, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Paulo Autran, Jorge Amado, among others passed through his lenses.

His book Viagem à Liberdade, published in 2008, a portrait of the Japanese neighborhood of São Paulo, was chosen to honor the hundred years of Japanese immigration to Brazil by National Geographic (magazine) and was awarded the title of the best article produced outside the USA.

He also photographed for the Louis Vuitton portrait book, Rebounds, published in Paris in 1999. His advertising photographs were awarded the Golden Lion in Cannes and the Clio Awards, Grand Clio, in New York.

His book, Copo de Luz - essays on photography as art and memory , was published in 2018.

The renowned Swedish magazine Forum, published by Hasselblad cameras defined his portrait work as follows: “Scavone is a grand master of technique, but he feeds on his sensitivity to penetrate under the skin of his subjects.”
