General info :
Gianni Mercurio is an independent curator and essayist, living in Rome.
Specialized in American art, he curated exhibitions on Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, George Segal, Roy Lichtenstein and collective exhibitions on Pop-Art, Hyperrealism and American Graffitism.
He worked as a guest curator at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, the MOCA in Lyon, the Triennale in Milan, the IVAM in Valencia, the MACRO in Rome and other museums in Europe.
In Rome he served as director of the Chiostro del Bramante and the Carlo Bilotti Museum. Among his latest projects are the solo shows of Tony Oursler and Anish Kapoor in Milan.
He also wrote many artist monographs and catalogues. Select credits include The Jean-Michel Basquiat Show (2007), The Keith Haring Show (2005), Anish Kapoor: Dirty Corner (2011), The Art of Banksy: A Visual Protest (2019).
