Old England was the business name of a French store specialized in English traditional fashion founded in 1867.
In 2012 the business closed permanently.


Founded in 1867 by Alexandre Henriquet, a former salesman at Bon Marché, Old England had become an icon of British fashion in Paris. Installed Boulevard des Capucines in 1886, the shop was managed by the descendants of the Henriquet family until the acquisition in 1999 by the Richemont group then by Albert Goldberg via the Tercade holding company in 2006.

On March 1, 1886, Old England moved to 12 boulevard des Capucines, in a luxurious setting of 2,400 m² spread over three levels. The success of the company is immediate. In 1916, Alexandre bequeathed the company to his son Edouard joined in 1934 by his nephew, Julien Henriquet. The Store then employed 350 workers in the making of made-to-measure clothing and offered a very large number of imported items.
In 1945, Old England had to start from scratch in a market now dominated by ready-to-wear and fashion accessories.
In 1981, Julie Henriquet gave up her place in the management of the company founded 130 years ago by her great-grandfather to her son Jean-Marie.
In 1999 the luxury group Richemont bought the business Old England SAS.
In April 2006, the Richemont group sells Old England SAS to Tercade SA, a holding company controlled by Olivier Goldberg.
At that time Old England operates a flagship department store on Boulevard des Capucines in Paris as well as stores in Lyon and Toulouse. It also has a number of points of sale in Japan. It specialized in the sale of traditional English brands including Turnbull & Asser, Church, and Smythson.

In January 2012 it was announced that the store would close permanently by the end of march, but due to a fire it closed a few weeks after the announcement.
