General info :
Oberto Gili (born in 1946, Torino, Italy) is a fashion and lifestyle photographer.
Originally a student of mathematics and physics, he graduated from University of Torino and moved to London to study photography in the early 1970s.
There he worked as an assistant to Michael Joseph, an advertising photographer.
One year later, he moved to Milan to work for L’Esperto, a publishing company, to shoot and produce a book that was to be called “Crazy, Mad, Outrageous Interiors”. The book was eventually published in 1972 by Quadrangle Books and renamed to “Underground Interiors“.
Oberto moved to New York in the 1980s, where he worked for Conde Nast, New York Magazine and Washington Post Magazine.
Other publications include the retrospective book, «Luxury of space» published by Assouline in the fall of 2003.
