General info :
Jessy is the stage name of Jessy De Smet (born on July 8th 1976, in Zottegem, Flanders, Belgium), a Belgian singer especially active in the dance scene.
As a songwriter she writes most of her own lyrics.

Jessy grew up in a very musical family. Her mother was active as a singer and her father was a pianist. They both played in supporting bands. Jessy took her first musical steps in such a band at the age of eight. Since both her parents played weekly in the orchestra of Flemisch singer Willy Sommers, Willy asked Jessy to record the song 'Twee Vrienden' (Two Friends) as a duet.

About a year and a half later a second single was recorded with another Flemish singer, Marijn Devalck.

Once she was twelve, she performed with her parents weekly under the name Jennyfer-Band.

In 1996 she met the people of the dance formation The Mackenzie and together they recorded the single I Am Free. It was a hit in clubs but did not become a commercial success. However, the first steps were taken and they decided to go further under the name Mackenzie feat. Jessy.
By 1998 things got better with two golden records for 'Innocence' and 'Falling in love'.

In 1999 the album Angel was released. It received a TMF Award for Best National Album.
The last Mackenzie feat. Jessy single became Walk Away, released in April 2001.
They did not separate as friends as Jessy felt bound by an unfair contract.
She moved on and worked with producers Regi Penxten en Filip Vandueren.

2004 saw the release Jessy's first solo album 'Rain'.

In 2009 Jessy provided the vocals for the song Can't Get Anough by Belgian producer Michael Beltran, and for the song 'All is love' by German dance act SASH!.
Many singles would follow.

In 2015 she announced her farewell as a dance singer.

In 2017 the track Without You (Arpegia) by The Mackenzie Featuring Jessy ranked number 1 in the Retro Top 500 Top Flemish Top Radio.
