Margaret Tonne Goodman is born in Manhattan, New York, USA.
She grew up in the Upper East Side,
She was one of Vogue’s longest-serving lieutenants, most recently as the magazine’s fashion director, before leaving her staff position and becoming a contributing editor.
Prior to Vogue she was vice president of advertising at Calvin Klein in New York, worked at Harper’s Bazaar, and in her early days she worked with Diane Vreeland at the Costume Institute.
In 2020 Tonne published a book named 'Point Of View'.
She graduated from the Brearley School.
