Anthony Gardner (born in Dublin, Ireland) is an author and journalist.

Anthony Gardner was born in Dublin and brought up partly in London and partly in County Tipperary. He studied English at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, where he specialised in Yeats and the Romantic poets, graduating with a double first.
His entry into journalism was as a trainee sub-editor on Harpers & Queen, of which he later became deputy editor. He has written features, book reviews and travel pieces for many of Britain and Ireland’s leading newspapers and magazines, as well as Town & Country and Vogue in the US. He has also edited several books, including The Gough Map by Nick Millea (Bodleian Library).
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, whose magazine he relaunched as RSL – The Royal Society of Literature Review and edited until 2016. He is particularly proud to be a trustee of the Keats-Shelley Memorial Association, which cares for the house in Rome where Keats died. He wrote the Talks column of Intelligent Life for several years, and has taken part in literary festivals in England, Ireland and Scotland.
He divides his time between a redbrick house in West London and a wooden hut at the bottom of the garden, where he works on his novels. He also writes poetry, which has been published in the London Magazine. He is married to the translator, editor and artist Rosanna Kelly.
