General info :
Silvana Bernasconi (born in Forlì, Italy) is an Italian fashion journalist and illustrator. She studied Set Design in Rome and married Umberto Bernasconi, editor of a cultural magazine, who introduced her to journalism.
She collaborated with Corriere Lombardo and Settimo Giorno.
In 1952, together with her husband, she founded Mamma e Bimbi, the first quarterly fashion magazine for children (discontinued in 1974).
From 1969 to 1975 she was director of Harper's Bazaar Italia, and from 1974 to 1983 Silvana acted as foreign correspondent for the French edition of Vogue. She was also served on the Special Services department of Vogue Italia in the 1980s and 90s.

In 2005, the Civic Collections of Applied Art of Milan acquired Silvana's historic wardrobe. A mixture of high fashion and ready-to-wear clothes, the garments date back to the 1950s and 1970s, all linked to the signatures of the most prestigious Italian and international designers. The Collections are now part of the museum complex of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan.
The garments are mostly made with Taroni silk fabrics, the Como company owned by Giampaolo Porlezza, Bernasconi's second husband.
