General info :
Parfums Pinaud is the brand name of a business founded by Edouard Pinaud in 1842, that later also commercialized cosmetics, jewelry and watches.
At the age of 13, Edouard Pinaud left his family to become an apprentice in order to master the techniques of perfumery. When he arrived in Paris in 1830, Edouard Pinaud bought “A la Corbeille Fleurie”, a store located at 230 rue Saint Martin. He was just 20 years old and knew how to do only one thing: make perfumes.
Soon surrounded by the best workers of the capital, we find at La Corbeille Fleurie a stunning variety of Cologne waters, enchanting floral bouquets, eaux de toilette with varied fragrances, soapy bars, oils, superfine ointment etc.

Edouard Pinaud officially appeared in 1842 as “Manufacturer of Parfumeries Superfines” in the registers of the Paris Commercial Court.
In 1850, in order to meet the growing demand for his creations, he and his friend Emile Meyer teamed up to found a first cosmetics factory in La Villette and opened four stores in Paris. The success is immediate. These perfumes earned him three gold and silver medals in 1855 in Paris, 1862 in London and 1867 in Paris.
On August 18, 1855, on the occasion of the Universal Exposition, Queen Victoria went to Paris. Edouard Pinaud wanted to attract his attention and created a perfume in his name “Bouquet de la Reine Victoria”. She was immediately charmed by the talent and enthusiasm of the young designer. Edouard Pinaud became the official supplier to Napoleon III, Emperor of the French and His Majesty the Queen of England, Victoria.
He died on October 2, 1868.

Emile Meyer, his most loyal friend and collaborator took over the management of the perfumery in 1870.
In 1891, the Pinaud house presented one of its greatest historical successes, FLIRT, a symbol of the luxury and refinement of the Belle époque.
In 1897, the Pinaud house opened a sign at 18 place Vendôme selling jewelry.
After Pinaud's passing Meyer's son-in-law, Victor Klotz, took over the company and renamed it "Victor Klotz et Cie," while continuing to sell perfumes under the Pinaud name.
In 1908 Henry and George Klotz took over from their father Victor Klotz who ran the business since 1883. In less than 10 years, they have succeeded in establishing the brand on all five continents. They then set up in exceptional locations such as 5th Avenue in New York in 1920 and set up their headquarters at 120, avenue des Champs Elysées. An exhibition store will be opened at 168, rue du faubourg Saint Honoré.
In 1930 Roger Goldet took over and in 1937, he created the famous mascara used today by women all over the world, Mascara 612. The same year he presents the mytic SCARLETT perfume.
During the war, production was not interrupted and in 1943 the famous perfume OPÉRA appeared.
In 1950 Roger Goldet innovates once again by launching fragrant skincare ranges for children with Les Cherubins.
His son, Olivier Goldet, took over his father’s business in 1980 and led it until the dawn of the year 2000.

Lilac Vegetal is the only perfume by Pinaud himself still in production. Its date of origin? David Woolf, executive vice president of American International Industries, stated in a New York Times interview published on February 16th, 1997, that it was released in NY City in 1878. Woolf's firm owns and manufactures the Pinaud/Clubman range.

Olivier Goldet sold the American company to Zvi Ryman, CEO of American International Industries.
As of 2015, Pinaud Clubman's online business is licensed to a company called Corrado Cutlery, run by a man named James Bilger. However, American International Industries appears to hold primary control of the American-based online retailer.
Also as of 2015, Ed. Pinaud remains a separate entity, with a couple of low-visibility perfumes, and not nearly as much market share in Europe as the brand once held.
As of 2023 the website www.ed-pinaud.com has no legal info page and is available in French, English, Japanese and Chinese language.
