General info :
Gibbs (often miscredited as IBBS) was the brand name used by Thibaud Gibbs Et Cie., a producer and distributor of of toothpaste, shaving products and tooth brushes.
It was distributed in France by the company Thibaud Gibbs Et Cie., although its origins go back to the English brand D & W Gibbs , whose origins date back to 1712.
Gibbs became well-known long before the Great War thanks to the slogan "With Gibbs soap, shaving becomes a pleasure." Gibbs shaving soap with "cold cream" and Gibbs toothpaste were already included in the kit of the French soldier during the First World War.
Imported into France in 1906 by Pierre Thibaud (who founded the company P. Thibaud et Cie in 1907), Gibbs established its brand image in the early 1920s: the famous logo appeared in 1921. It was used on all the brand's products, advertisements, and company vehicles, among other things.

In 1931, P. Thibaud et Cie. became Thibaud Gibbs et Cie.
