Elaina Richardson (born in Scotland) was the editor in chief of Elle magazine (US) from 1996 till 2000 when she abdicated her post as the to assume the presidency of Yaddo.

Yaddo is a retreat for artists located on a 400-acre estate in Saratoga Springs, New York. Its mission is to nurture the creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a supportive environment

She studied 18th-century literature at the University of Edinburgh and at Oxford.

In 1996 Elaina Richardson was named editor of the Hachette Filipacchi Magazines title Elle. She was formerly deputy editor.

She still writes for Travel & Leisure, More, and O: The Oprah Magazine.
