General info :
Julia Gruen (born ca. 1958) is the executive director of the Keith Haring Foundation since since its inception in 1990.
From 1984 to 1990 she served as Assistant/Studio Manager at the Keith Haring Studio.
She was a close friend of Keith Haring and was his assistant and right hand during his career.
She grew up in the East Village, the daughter of a mother who was a painter and a father who was a journalist, biographer and photographer.
Not long after Keith Haring learned that he had a disease that would likely take his life, he decided he wanted to establish a Foundation in his name, and he asked her to be its director.
Julia is an alumna of the Columbia University in the City of New York.
