General info :
AB Svensk Filmindustri (abbreviated SF) is a Swedish Film Company that was founded on December 27, 1919 with the merger of AB Svenska Biografteatern and Filmindustri AB Skandia.

Their business areas include; local production as well as Nordic and international co-productions, Theatrical and Home Entertainment distribution, International Sales and Digital online services.

SF Studios is the leading distributor of films and TV-series to the Nordic countries. We offer right holders the most complete distribution network on the Nordic market, including cinemas in four countries, television and home entertainment platforms.

The first film poster that used the SF logo was director Mauritz Stiller’s Johan, in 1921. In those early days the logo was very simple with a white S and F against a black background. It was not until the late 30’s that the company changed it to the two thin circle lines with the two beautifully shaped capital letters (still in black/white).

In 2012 Svensk Filmindustri AB became part of the Bonnier Group, a media group working in TV, daily newspapers, business and trade press, magazines, film, books, radio and digital media.

In 2016 Svensk Filmindustri was rebranded as SF Studios.

SF Studios has output agreements with some of the most successful production companies in the Nordics like FLX and Sweetwater in Sweden, Metafilm in Denmark and they also co-own two production companies in Norway; Filmkameratene AS, founded by John M. Jacobsen and producer of outstanding films and TV-series such as The Heavy Water War, Troll Hunter and Børning; and film company Motion Blur, established in 2013 by among other internationally acclaimed directors Joachim Rønning, Espen Sandberg and Harald Zwart.
SF Studios International markets and sells feature films and TV productions in different formats, genres and target groups to all media, both physical and digital, outside the Nordic Countries.
SF Nordic Home Entertainment deals in Nordic rights for international and local television productions.
