He is best known for directing films that focus on sexually charged stories and characters, and often uses natural light. He was the creative force behind some of the most talked-about movies of the 20th century, like Fatal Attraction, 9 1/2 Weeks, Flashdance, Indecent Proposal, Jacob's Ladder and Unfaithful.
