General info :
Prior to retiring in 2017 Ariela Goggi (born ca. 1955) was deputy director at Vogue Italia. She served thirty-seven years alongside Franca Sozzani, the former editor on chief, until her death in 2016.
Prior to Vogue Italia she was deputy director of "Lei" and "Per Lui".
She came to Vogue Italia in 1986.

After graduating in architecture, Ariela came to Milan because she was fan of architecture magazines and wanted to work there. Good friend Maddalena Sisto, who worked at “Lei”, managed to organize an interview with the director, who was looking for a new fashion editor and that's how it started.
Her luck was to immediately establish a relationship of great trust with Franca and from there on she was like her shadow.

In 1986 the director of Vogue Italia at the time, Franco Sartori, had died suddenly of a heart problem and they called Franca to the management.
Ariela didn't join right away because Franca offered her the direction of "Lei" and "Per Lui". She was somehow disappointed and wish Franca had told her she needed her at "Vogue". After six months, she went to her office and explained the situation to her and could come to 'Vogue' as deputy director.
She would hold that position till a couple of months after Franca's death in 2016 because the company needed time to find a new director. They tried to made her stay, but there was no way. She told everyone: I am not the deputy director by profession, I was the deputy director of Franca ».

She currently resides in Tortona, Italy.
