General info :
Alex Black is a New York-based Director and Photographer originally from Montreal.

She is interested in the frames ability in capturing a fragmented perspective of the world. Inspiration is drawn from the visual language of abstract art to create representations that exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. In there lies a tension between abstraction and figuration. Fashion is used as a tool for its shapes, colours and forms to achieve an effect and are usually simplified or schematized.

Her work has been published in i-D, American Vogue, Document Journal, Vogue Italia, Teen Vogue, Dazed Digital, Paper Magazine and Lampoon Magazine a.o.

Clients include Milk Makeup and Obama’s MBKA foundation. She has had shows at Red Hook Labs, Theory’s flagship store, Lomography NYC, and was awarded the 2017 Emerging Photographer award.
