Ezra Petronio (born in New York, USA, ca. 1968) is a Paris-based creative director, photographer and editor. As a co-founder of the creative agency Petronio Associates with his former partner, fashion director, and stylist Suzanne Koller, Petronio has worked with world-renowned luxury brands such as Saint Laurent, Prada, Chanel and Louis Vuitton on their branding, packaging, and marketing. He has also co-founded Self Service, bi-annual magazine focused around fashion and culture. Other Petronio’s projects include the digital brand agency Content Matters and beauty brand La Bouche Rouge.

Ezra was born in New York but grew up in Paris. He returned to his hometown to pursue a degree in Communication and Design at Parsons School of Design. After a short period at Interview Magazine, Petronio moved back to France. After making his first steps in publishing and marketing, he launched Petronio Associates in 1993, followed by Self Service a year later. The first issue provided a platform for creatives such as Daft Punk, Frédéric Sanchez, and Nicolas Ghesquière. Petronio started his photographer’s career by shooting self-portraits for Self Service, that followed by working for publications such as Love Magazine, WSJ, Porter, and international editions of Vogue.

Self Service celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2019. The 50th issue of the magazine featured 100 portraits shot by Petronio himself. The special issue was followed by an exhibition titled “Self Service Twenty Five Years of Fashion, People and Ideas Reconsidered” at the Dallas Contemporary Space. That’s not the first exhibition of Ezra, in 2012 he staged his first exhibition showcasing polaroid photography. La Bouche Rouge isn’t the only beauty-related project of Petronio, he designed Glossier’s Play makeup line and became the creative director of Victoria Beckham Beauty.
