General info :
Famatina is the main city of a homonymous department - Valle de Famatina - in the far north of the province of La Rioja, Argentina, characterized by farming and tourism.

It is located in foothills of the Precordillera, in a pocket of arid climate with very hot summers and mild winters, very little rains and probability of frosts.

At present the majority of its population is Creole being the remaining population of European origin.
