Description (by producer & GT in English only) :
Ferris Bueller. Larger than life. Blessed with a magical sense of serendipity. He's a model for all those who take themselves too seriously. A guy who knows the value of a day off. Ferris Bueller's Day Off chronicles the events in the day of a rather magical young man, Ferris (Matthew Broderick). One spring day, toward the end of his senior year, Ferris gives in to an overwhelming urge to cut school and head for downtown Chicago with his girl (Mia Sara) and his best friend (Alan Ruck), to see the sights, experience a day of freedom and show that with a little ingenuity, a bit of courage and a red Ferrari, life at 17 can be a joy!

I watched this with a friend who wanted to watch a classic 80s film. I was worried that - after all these years - it might not hold up (We'd watched Ghostbusters recently and hated it because it just hadn't aged well at all). I needn't have worried, it was just as funny as ever.

One thing I noticed though, that I hadn't before, is how everyone in the 80s was motivated by money, and brands. Everyone lives in huge mansions and had Cartier watches, and then there's THAT car too. I was a child of the 80s and remember the consumerism and yuppies but seeing it here kind of shocked me because I'd forgotten what it was like.

Still...Hurrah for still being an amazing comedy. Loved it! 9/10

Playing Hookie as an Art Form=Save Ferris! indeed; one of my all-time fave comedies & Broderick's cinematic iconic masterpiece of insouciance for Gen X

Side-splittingly funny comic masterpiece from writer/director John Hughes about smart aleck Ferris playing hookey from high school and just one step ahead of his bumbling vice principal (Jones in Wile E. Coyote mode). Great blend of snappy dialogue and unbelieveable events with great support from a fine ensemble cast. Best scene: Ferris running home to beat the clock on his unsuspecting parents. Look for comic Louie Anderson as a flower deliveryman, Kristy Swanson and Max Perlich as Ferris' fellow history students.
